Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)
Why does the app need my precise location? Astrophotography Radar uses your device's location strictly to calculate accurate local celestial coordinates (Altitude and Azimuth) and determine the exact trajectory of targets over your specific physical location. This ensures the 20° and 45° altitude rings accurately reflect what is visible from your backyard.

A target I am looking for isn't showing up. Why? We pull target data directly from the public CDS SIMBAD astronomical database. Try searching for the target using its common catalog designation (e.g., "M 33" or "NGC 7000") rather than colloquial names. If SIMBAD is temporarily offline, search functionality may be briefly interrupted.

How does the "Best Day" forecasting work? The app calculates the maximum altitude a target will reach during astronomical night for your specific coordinates, helping you find the optimal time of year when the target will be highest in the sky and free from local horizon obstructions.

My location pin is slightly off. Can I move it? Yes. You can manually tap and drag the "Location Pinned" indicator on the map to adjust your telescope's exact physical placement relative to obstacles like trees or rooflines.

Feature Requests
We are actively developing Astrophotography Radar to make deep-sky planning as seamless as possible. If you have ideas for new features—such as custom horizon mapping, new camera/sensor FOV calculators, or offline catalogs—please send us an email.
